Lean Six Sigma Course - Objectives & Details

OBJECTIVE

Discovering and understanding the principles, objectives, and main tools of the Lean Six Sigma methodology, applicable to any type of process. Demonstrating the effectiveness of teamwork in identifying root causes of problems, finding and implementing viable, sustainable solutions. Preparing for international certification.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is intended for managers or process owners in executive leadership, department heads responsible for maintaining and improving process performance, collaborators leading short-term projects to evaluate LSS applicability, and experts or specialists involved in problem-solving and performance improvement sessions in their departments.

COURSE CONTENT

The course is primarily delivered through a simulation of a transactional process, with theoretical concepts immediately applied in practice. The simulated process includes traditional organizational roles, from registry through operations, sales, marketing, accounting, and finance, including job descriptions and clients purchasing services. The simulation progresses through stages, starting from the base situation and gradually improving or redesigning the process toward peak performance, always highlig...

Main activities of the transactional process simulation include:

  • Identifying DMAIC and Lean Six Sigma methodology principles and core tools, aligned with ISO 13053-1/2011 and ISO 13053-2/2011 standards and the IASSC recommended curriculum
  • Defining basic concepts: Defect, Opportunity, Added Value, Waste
  • Examples and calculation of process performance: Efficiency, Process Duration, Intermediate Steps, Yield, Defects per Million Opportunities (DPMO), Sigma Level
  • Teamwork
  • Process mapping to build a shared understanding of the process and its dysfunctions
  • Lean Principles
        - Continuous Improvement
        - The 5 Core Principles
        - Value-Added vs. Non-Value-Added Activities
        - Pull vs. Push Systems
        - Types of Waste
        - Lean vs. Six Sigma
  • Implementing team-suggested improvements to streamline processes, eliminate non-value-adding activities, and minimize quality variation
  • Highlighting actual performance improvements through "quick wins" and deeper improvements
  • Calculating financial performance and illustrating the impact of increased sigma level through methodology application
  • Highlighting key tools used at each phase of the methodology

COURSE DURATION

The course consists of 4 online sessions held over one full course day.
